Do you want your baby to have a top-notch oral health? If so, you have come to the right blog! Today, our pediatric dentists, Dr. Bailey and Dr. Reimschissel, are happy to talk about oral hygiene for babies. Our tips can help you help your child have the best smile and oral health possible. To give your child the top-notch teeth and gums they deserve, it’s best to do the following things:

-Clean the gums when they don’t have teeth yet. You can do this by wiping their gums with a wet, clean washcloth after each feeding. This can help wash bacteria away that can harm the gums and affect your baby’s oral health.

-Clean the teeth when they start growing into place. All you need to do is use a child-sized, soft-bristled toothbrush and water. If you would like, you can use child toothpaste that doesn’t have fluoride and that is safe to swallow. Brush their little chompers every morning and night.

-Bring them in for their first checkup at an early age. In fact, it’s recommended to bring them to their first appointment by the time they are one year old or six months after their first tooth erupted. This appointment can help you know all about properly caring for your baby’s smile.
